Are you expecting... mystery, sensuality, wonder, and delight? If you are pregnant, you should be! Pregnancy isn't all about nausea and medical tests; it's also a time of excitement, anticipation, and above all, joy. You don t need to adopt a strict diet, adhere to a demanding exercise regimen, or spend your time worrying about planning the perfect birth. Rather, you can trust your instincts and your body to guide you through the amazing, magical process of pregnancy and childbirth. That's the wise, expert counsel of Tori Kropp, perinatal nurse and founder of both a popular childbirth-education program and a website for new parents. In The Joy of Pregnancy, Tori tells you what you need to know how the baby is developing, how your body is changing, and how to prepare for the birth and baby without overwhelming you. She has organized the book month by month, so you can learn at your leisure as you progress through pregnancy. Also included are Q&As, fun facts, and sections just for Dad. With Tori's help, both of you can enjoy and celebrate this very special season of your lives.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it contained a lot of good information, but it was presented in a way that didn't just bog you down with information. In spoke to both the mother and the father to be, providing insight and useful information for both parents. I read this book before ttc, but will be reading it again during my pregnancy.
I bought this book as soon as the pregnancy test was positive. In the beginning it suggests to use it the way it is intended and read month by month. This is a GREAT idea, otherwise you are in danger of information overload. I really like that this book has walked me slowly and calmly through my pregnancy. Also, it has been a great reference when I have a question. Last week I woke up in the middle of the night with sharp pains in my belly, at three am I looked up braxton-hicks in this book and the description was exactly what was happening to me. My doctor has kept me really well informed, but this book has been a comfort at those 3 am times I have a question. Also, it relays information about complications well and tells you when it is time to call the doctor. It also has helped me ask helpful questions of my doctor to better understand my pregnancy. All in all a great book.
This is a great pregnancy book, esp. for those considering the second time around. I thought it was more lighter than the other reads I've read, and somewhat more humorous. It was, also, very informative and gave my jittery nerves a rest! I appreciated the author's candor and would recommend this to expectant moms. I would also suggest, Really Pregnant! Confessions of a New Mom-To-Be or Why I Couldnt Stop Eating Brownies.
As the Mother I downloaded this free book to my kindle in February, not knowing that my daughter would surprise me on Easter with a Happy Easter Grandma and Grandpa card. Since I knew she was trying to become pregnant I bought the book for her so that one day we could read it together. So in return for the excellent gift of being told I was going to be a grandmother I could give her the gift if this excellent and informative book that we are reading together. Wish I had it 28 years ago. Thanks Tori.
How can this book be free on Kindle? Well, it is a great idea and this book gives very nice advice for the mom to be and does not have the scary medical jargon that some of the other books out there have. It also does not have the false data that some of the other book promote, scaring women. Another book that goes well with this is Hands Off My Belly: The Pregnant Woman's Survival Guide to Myths, Mothers, and Moods.
