Great Charger that works on all Black & Decker slide style batteries BATTERY MOD. (5.0)

I purchased this charger to charge (4) 18V B & D batteries. I soon found out what other have stated in their reviews, that two of the newer 18 volt batteries did not fit in the charger. These batteries came with a drill that had an integrated charger. Because of this, the battery has an extra set of prongs that will interfere with this charger. Here is the fix. I used a T10 bit to open the 18 volt battery pack. I located the extra prongs, and cut the wire off. I proceeded to remove the extra prongs, and used some tape to cover up the cut wire. You should use some electrical tape, but any insulating tape will work. I replaced the cover,and put the screws back on. Presto! The battery works normally, and can now be charged with this charger. The extra prong seems to be a way to charge the battery without an external charger. I personally never bothered to use the integrated charger in the drill, so removing this prong/option is no big deal for me. Keep this in mind if you plan on doing this mod.

The charger that came with my drill crapped out after only a year so I bought this as a replacement. It works fine so far. Hopefully it will last longer than the last one.

Does not charge all slide style batteries (1.0)

I bought this because it says that it will charge all slide style batteries. Well, it doesn't. There are some slide style batteries that have a different plug style. Black and Decker has ignored my question regarding the product and I can't locate the appropriate charger. I'm currently sending this one back. The product may be a good product, assuming that you have the right type of battery.

I have only used it once and it worked fine. If you have two batteries like I do it's a good thing to have. It's Black and Decker quality. I don't know what more there is to say. :)

Excellent replacement for one or more OE chargers (5.0)

Purchased this to replace a dead OE charger for my B&D "FireStorm" batteries.

I have three batteries for my Firestorm system: the one that came with the set originally, one purchased about a year later, and third purchased one more year later. I thought that my original battery had pretty much had it and the basic diagnostics on this unit confirmed my belief with a fast flash code. Off to the recycler's with that one. The 2nd battery had been having issues charging on the OE charger before it died. However, it charged perfectly on this new unit. Very happy about that.

Having the flexibility to recharge my 18v B&D batteries on this as well is a big plus. My OE charger for my 18v batteries still works fine, but now I can do with just one charger, rather than having to have two chargers out on the workbench.

Item can quickly, NIB. Works just peachy. If you need a replacement for your OE B&D charger, or just want to not have to keep multiple chargers for your B&D gear laying about, this is a great way to go, and a heck of a lot cheaper on Amazon than the B&M stores I've shopped this item at (including the B&D outlet store).
