I just returned this pump. I bought it because of the great reviews, but was disappointed to find the heatsink was made of flimsy plastic. Not what I expected at all. Also, for such a heavy-duty appearance, it has warnings about not running for more than 10 minutes at a time. Might help if they actually used metal for their heatsinks...
This product goes for 80 dollars at slime's website. Not only am I happy with the price I paid, but Im even happier with the product. Excellent deal. I wish everything I bought was as this was.
owned more than 10 in as many years
this works and is fast.
good gauge.
manual says it gets hot but never seems to.
kinda crappy bag but overall great.
About 2 days after Christmas while working outside I decided to check the pressure of my tires. The first tire I got to was about 8 PSI low. Any other time I would have had to either use a hand pump or wait until I got to the service station. Not this time, in a matter of minutes I had the pump out of the case, connected electrically and to the tire and had filled the first tire. I went on to check and fill 11 others (2 other cars). I found the integral pressure gage to be fairly accurate (within a pound or 2). I was going to give it 4 stars because I discovered Slime offers another kit (same compressor) with a variety of extras (plugs for repairing holes, etc). That wasn't something that effects the performance of the compressor though so 5 stars. One more thing, I ran the compressor on and off for about 5 to 6 minutes with no noticable heating of the casing.
Just buy it! Compressor -- Great rugged construction and relatively quiet for what it does. LED light -- works great -- at first, lights would not light, but found it was just the light switch being sticky -- flicking it back and forth a few times fixed that. Tire gauge - compared as accurate as my digital tire gauge (my old tire compressor didn't have a built-in gauge) -- saves me time now since I only need to use the built-in gauge and can shut off the compressor at the desired PSI. *Highly* recommended (necessary) accessory is the 12V battery clip to cigarette lighter adapter -- many cars restrict the voltage in their cabin cigarette lighters and won't accomodate the load demanded by this compressor -- just avoid the headache: Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter Adapter or Roadpro 2 Plugs 12V Cigarette Lighter Adapter with Short Cord.
