Her second self titled studio album, Breakout, Miley takes us with her on a Rock'N'Roll journey. The music is infectious and the hits are undeniable! ' 7 Things' is Miley's Hit single! A perfect follow up to her Top Five radio Smash Hit 'See You Again' ! With three albums released by the age of 15, Miley has already had the level of success that most artists only dream about with over 10 million albums sold! Miley's first recording Hannah Montana Original Soundtrack Debuted #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and is Certified 3x Platinum. Miley's second release Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus Debuted #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and it is Certified 6x Platinum. 12 tracks.
Yep--the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana is going it alone. Having conquered the teen market under her Hannah Montana moniker, 15-year-old Cyrus is now aiming for the adult world; or at least a slightly older audience. Breakout follows her dual-marketed Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus album, and differs from it in that she sounds a little more grown up, a little rougher around the edges, and just a touch more self-expressive. Needless to say, Breakout is produced to within an inch of its life. Every aspect, from concept to mixdown, has been polished and buffed to achieve that perfect tween sheen. Despite this resulting in a somewhat sterile and claustrophobic aura, the album manages to achieve some infectious moments. To her credit, Cyrus has co-written most of the songs here (all but two), which largely eschew electronic dancefloor sounds for a guitar-heavy ethic. The punchy title track (co-produced by the Go-Go's Gina Schock), the thrashy, catchy "7 Things" and the boyfriend putdown "Fly On The Wall" are immediate highlights, but ballads such as "Bottom of the Ocean" and her sped up version of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" are much less convincing. Breakout reveals a genuine young talent, but one that's perhaps being rushed way too quickly towards her prime.--Danny McKenna
I Looove chick flicks, shoppin' at the mall with my BFFs (which are girls LOL!!), and chick singers.......but something stands out about Miley that I just can't explain!! Is it the generic background music? the generic lyrics? or the generic sex appeal used to sell her music? I DONT KNOW! but she is sure one talented musician.....the world needs more of her type of music......
Avoid terrible women singers like Doro, Blondie, Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, Mamas and Papas, the Carpenters, and especially Fleetwood Mac!!!!!!
Unlike other Miley music, this album at least has a few songs I can stand. It's still Miley, so you won't find me too impressed, but at least I don't skip all the songs. I hate the "Fly on the Wall" song, but I don't mind the rest all that much. I actually like "See you Again."
This album caught my attention when I saw that I could download it for $5. I had wanted Breakout for a while but had been putting it off. I'm glad I got it!
Miley's debut has a lot of feeling and emotion in the lyrics. Being 13, I was afraid that the album might be slightly little-kiddish, since Miley's show is for younger kids. But it wasn't! I found the songs really good and great for teens.
I get slightly less emotion from "Breakout" and "Wake Up America", the first being very carefree and bouncy. The second I want to point out to possible buyers: It has to do with going green and global warming. If you're into that kind of thing, I suppose it's a nice song, but for those of us who don't believe in global warming the lyrics seem slightly dumb. I am just pointing this out for possible buyers.
Other than Wake Up America I enjoyed all the songs, and if you like Miley's voice and pop with feeling like I do, you'll love this album too!
I never thought I'd be a Miley supporter until I heard See You Again three years ago. Now I have the album and I like it alot.
I think this is a very up lifting cd for pre teens. It helps them survive breakups, rude boys, cheating, school, and the ever shifting friendship of girls. *Miley is a wonderful artist , and my daughter loves her.
