Ironman... (4.0)

This watch is so sleek, the band really makes this watch stand out. Its sharp looking for sure. I like how the watch has so meany features. Just ont eh face of the watch it tells you the time, day, and date. It also has military time which is conveinent. You can put two different time zones in it as well. The one thing about the pedometer I dont like is it doesnt seem very accurate, but I didnt buy it for that anyway.

Does the job (5.0)

I have a small wrist, and I'm not sure what the other reviewer's wrists are like, but this fits me fine. Also, there are + and - markings on the face of the watch marking designated buttons that I can see easily (someone complained of no such buttons or not being able to see the markings, but how can you not have seen them, you mention them?). I think this thing is great, I'm not sure what was in everybody else's watch box.

Great Running Watch (5.0)

I got this watch for my sister for Christmas. After calibrating it it has been very accurate and reliable. She is a marathoner and she says it is a must have for both training and racing.

Almost Perfect (4.0)

This product came with a dead battery. Once the battery was replaced it worked as described.

Timex Watch (3.0)

Pros:The watch works perfectly.
Cons: The watch is much larger than I expected, I was disappointed with the color, its more of a muddy purple than pink.

Overall this is a great deal for this type of watch if you don't mind the color.

Gadgets: you just never know when you'll need to pick a tooth, tweeze a splinter, open a bottle, turn a screw, slice an apple, cut a thread or file your ... jail.(One trackmind): An article from: Rider by Mark, Jr. Tuttle

This is a great watch, don't listen to the haters (5.0)

I just wanted to add a positive review to help out anyone still wondering about purchasing this watch and still on the fence due to the numerous bad reviews it has received. The watch works great, fits great, and looks normal enough that I can wear it to work and other places when I'm not running. If you're worried about the reports of the bezel not operating when the watch is wet, I'd say don't worry about it: you can start and stop the watch with the top button and that's pretty much all you need to do while you're running. I lock the bezel 99% of the time, including while I'm running, to prevent accidental taps from changing the mode. It's as simple as that. If you find yourself needing to tap and swipe the bezel to get more information than current time, distance, and pace *while* you're running, maybe it's time to concentrate more on running and less on the gadgets you are using to help you run!

Garmin Forerunner 405 (3.0)

I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday as an update to the older one that he had. He has had a harder time adjusting to this than I thought he would. The dial is a touch bezel and it seems more complicated to work than his old one. He hasn't said it, but I think he actually liked the older one better.

Great features but don't sweat (3.0)

I've had the same problems with this watch as many other users. It's awesome until you start to sweat. I typically don't need to touch the bezel during a run but for some reason the screen will occationally change to the menu. It usually happens well into my run once my arms get sweaty. It might also change to the satellite screen if I run in a dense forest. Then I'm stuck because my hands are sweaty and my clothes are damp with sweat so the bezel becomes useless. Since I can't switch modes using the bezel, I can't turn off the timer or use the lap function. A few times after I've finished a run and the area under the watch was soaked with sweat, the watch acted as though it was possessed. It started beeping repeatedly, the light turned on and off, and it started scrolling through modes randomly. It all stopped when I took off the watch and dried it. I've also had several instances where the battery charge seemed to make a difference. Once the battery gets under 25% I've found that the start/stop and lap buttons aren't very responsive. I've had several times where I had to just forget using the lap timer. When I can afford it I'll get the 305. It would be nice if Garmin stepped up to the plate and offered a trade-in price for those of us who are disappointed in this product since it's obvious that it doesn't perform well when a person sweats during a workout.

Forerunner 405 (5.0)

Works very well. For me it has way too many features. i am more interested in very accurate milage and timing. Both of these are very accurate.

nice looking (4.0)

I'm writting this after only 2 uses because this a.m. I went on a 7 mile run and when I got home the 405 did'nt even start! I'm hoping I hit the wrong button. Other than this glitch I think its pretty cool. the software that you download from garmin(training center)is awesome! I think its a good product... just hope my problem this morning wont repeat itself. was using the nike plus and got tired of getting short changed on my mileage... was different everyday. the 405 is VERY accurate. follow the manual and you should be o.k. software wise.

Suunto X6HR Heart Rate Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, and Compass ~ Suunto

Seven + years and going strong (4.0)

I got my Suunto X6HR while at an adventure race in Borneo in 2002 and have used it extensively since. I have found the watch to be an overall great training and racing tool over the years. I would agree that battery life is not the strongest feature (my experience has been two per year for the watch and one a year for the chest strap - the battery life is significantly reduced if connected to the computer often). I have raced with this watch, trained with it and just worn it around town and have found it to be one my favorites (I have about eight watches in all!) One issue that does iritate me about it is the altitude setting goes back to zero each time the battery is changed and the process to bring it back up to 6660 (my home altitude) requires several minutes of button pushing/holding. Overall, this has been a great watch for me and I would recommend it to a friend.

If you think it's a tough watch, think again (2.0)

I wear my X6HR in a regular environment (office, home), nothing near extreme condition. However, in less than a year, I foung the rubber band of the heart monitor is broken in many placed and the rubber became brittle with many hairline cracks. This is clearly a quality issue with the material used for the watch. In a trip to the Keys, FL, I found that the little rubber ring that holds the band of the watch in place broke in two piece much like what happed to the heart rate monitor band. The band itself also has many small cracks. I am sure the band will break in half sooner or later. The LCD on the watch also became fuzzy when I wear it around beaches. This is supposed to be a watch that you can bring to an expedition, yet it failed miserably in a everyday environment. If you are looking for a tough watch, look elsewhere. My Casio G-shock never gives me any headache that this watch gives.

Excellent Watch, EASY INTERFACE. AWESOME... (5.0)

I love this thing. It would be hard to live without. All the features work exactly as described. Instructions are simple and clear. Great product.

Everything I wanted and a lot more (5.0)

The watch delivers everything you want from a HR monitor + outdoor adventures and is very simple to operate.

Great features, but needs serious polish. (3.0)

The X6HR has a great range of functions. However, the user interface and reliability of the product need serious work before its steep pricetag can be justified.

- Bezel buttons give no positive feedback, so you need to look closely at the screen to confirm button presses.

- The HRM function seems both unreliable. Heart rate occasionally drops out or spikes to double for no reason. I've parallel tested with a $30 HRM, which seems more reliable.

- The compass function is unbelievably poorly designed. Instead of drawing a compass on the face, or indicating N/S/E/W points around the bezel, the watch tells you the number of degrees you are facing, or prints N, NW, W, SE, etc on the screen. This is a completely counterintuitive way of displaying the information.

- The PC connection software looks like it was written in the 1990s- provides little functionality and poor usability.

This watch had great promise... but it has proven very disappointing in design.

Happy Happy (5.0)

I searched these reviews for good advice on which light to choose. After much debate, I finally landed on this one. I couldn't be happier with it, and use it daily.

To those of you bemoaning that it is cheaply made, I'm not sure what you were looking for. A steel reinforced desk lamp??? I'm pretty tough on my things, and was worried this might be too delicate, but it isn't. It's plenty sturdy for what it is - a desk light. It's not flimsy at all, it stands perfectly straight up, it emits a great light, and the control is solid. I wish I hadn't listened to all those folks complaining about the quality of the design and materials. I'm happy to say I found their advice entirely incorrect.

As for the quality of the light being emitted, I'm very happy with it. It is a bit bright at first, but that's part of how and why it works. I got used to it just fine in a half hour or so.

Don't spend a fortune on other lights. This little number is exactly what you are looking for!

Love it so far - used it less than 1 hour and love it. (5.0)

I just got my Verilux happy lite today - Bought mine online direct from the Verilux company (big sale/better deal) (Sorry Amazon).

Anyway - I always wanted to try one of these - but they were always in the $200.00 and up range - too pricey for a little sunshine. Anyway - each winter I seem to grow slower, and more lethargic, more passe', lower and lower energy. So I got to looking at these again and bought it when I found the deal.

Anyway - as a first time user of happy lite/SAD/sunshine lights - here's my take. In the evenings I get very, very sluggish and dragging around. I took it out of the box, assembled it, and tried placement where I wanted over my computer. Although it was 9:30, I flipped the switch on and thought I would try it for 15 minutes - but no more. (Take 1 hour to get 10,000 LUX and in 30 minutes you get 5,000 LUX). Anyway, the little 15 minutes I used it I definitely could tell a pick me up. I felt a little more energy and clearheadedness. Really I did. I popped up and cleaned up a little in the kitchen and set myself of to knock out some paperwork. After a while I started to settled back in to a late evening sleepy mode. So - I say it works based on the brief exposure I had tonight. I can't wait until tommorrow morning to try it out for the full time. I look forward to having 'full energy' again during the remains of these somber wintry months, so I can get things done and not be walking around like a zombie.

RE: the cheapness of the product stated in earlier comments. Not a problem. It's not THAT cheaply made. It's a solid plastic cover on the outside and metal on the inside. The outer plastic cover (called a diffuser) lines up in the ridges ok, but one side seems to not exactly lay flat in the ridge. No biggy. I can live with it. I'm not touching it all the time and after all, I'm using it for the 'light' it produces.

It was MUCH bigger than the picture makes it appear. It is as tall as a shoe box standing on it's side. A little taller actually. I'd best describe it as the size of a half a bread box standing on it's side (the old plastic ones that nobody has used in the past 50 years). Or expect it to be about 1/3 of the width your computer hard drive box (assuming you have a standard one).

Anyway, I figure in the morning this will have the same effect as a good cup of coffee.
I look forward to having energy and being highly active all day and getting lots done!!
It is sure to help me reclaim my days and hours.

Yaaaaaaaaaay. I'm so glad I finally tried this!
I say if you have *any* slow, sleepy, fatigued, groggy, slumbering, lethargic symptoms at all during the day in the cold months - this is well worth the money!!!

Happy with Happy Lite (5.0)

I've been using my light for a month now, and can see a vast difference in myself. I was disappointed to be charged for shipping, as it was advertised as available for free shipping, though.

Compact and effective light (4.0)

I found this product to be affordable, compact, and effective in alleviating my symptoms of SAD. I haven't had any problems with it and would recommend it to others.

Decent for an office (3.0)

Last year, I worked in a small office without windows. It was nearly driving me nuts not having any sunlight entering the office. As a result, I disabled the florescent bulbs in the ceiling and hunted for an affordable light that would simulate sunshine. This one was on a lightning special (yet pricier than I think it's worth based upon how it is built) and was a suitable option.

I purchased this lamp in January, 2009 and it is so-so. I had placed it in my office near my desk and it did help brighten up my workspace as well as assist me in feeling more energized. I have since changed roles and left that office, so I moved the lamp to my home. I don't use the lamp as often as I did when I had it in the office because the light it produces is harsh and bold. For my home, I'd rather have a warmer feel.

The lamp is very lightweight and seems to be inexpensively manufactured (it is plastic). Due to it being so light, it has been knocked over a few times. Nearly each time it is knocked over, the white plastic shade pops off.

Overall, this lamp is decent. It does what it says it does and works just fine. Its not my favorite lamp for my house, but for an office I find it to be fine.
