great meal replacement bar (5.0)
I know I'm not supposed to eat while I'm driving, but sometimes I have one of these to replace the meal I am going to miss. I love them and South Beach makes the best meal replacement bars I've ever tasted. The subscription deal is tremendous, saving money and shipping costs.
biggest among low carb bars. (4.0)
I used to use those for my on the go breakfast or as snack or as a saver whenever I got hungry especially during my induction phase of Atkins, since they have 3g net carbs only, they taste better than Atkins bars, and they are bigger than them, sometimes I would eat only half the bar and be full for few hours. they taste a little sweeter than I like, but I can take it for the reasons above. I used to buy them from Sam's club, now I have to buy them from somewhere else, other bars of SB taste better than those but they have more sugar and are smaller..
Misleading Product Information (1.0)
Before I ordered the protein bars I read the product description provided by Amazon. It was extremely misleading. It stated that the protein content was 19 grams; the calorie content was over 200. I ordered the product because of the large amount of protein and the fact that the calories were greater than 200. When I received the product the protein content was only 12 grams and the calories were less than 200. I had to mail the product back at my own expense for a misleading ingredient list that wasn't my fault. I am really annoyed and will not purchase such items again through Amazon since they do not monitor the product information.
Slightly better than before... (4.0)
Apparently these have changed slightly from the earlier South Beach Chocolate Meal-replacement bars. The chocolate is more melty/less waxy, and they taste very slightly salty (don't have an old box to compare sodium but that's how they taste). Overall, a small improvement in taste, but in the field of low-glycemic meal-replacement bars, these are still the best thing going.
Size of bar has shrunk (3.0)
I have been buying these 12-pack bars through Amazon, but the product now shipping has been reduced in size for the same price as the original larger bars. This isn't Amazon's fault, but be aware that you will receive the "new improved" product. I found that the new product at my grocery store cost $6.99 for a box of 6, so the 12-pack is no longer a good deal. Bummer!
Perfect meal! (5.0)
I absolutely love these South Beach Meal Replacement Bars. I eat them every morning for breakfast on my way to work. The are so moist, yet not mushy. They satisfy my hunger for something crunchy and something sweet. They have no sugar in them, so they fit the bill perfectly for breakfast or for any meal-on-the-go. I can no longer find them in my grocery store nor in my health food store. I was very sad that they had been discontinued and was so excited to find that I could order my month's supply online at Amazon.com. They come automatically and I do not have to worry if either of my local stores have them in stock. It is a perfectly yummy treat for those watching their calories, for those who want something that tastes sweet, and for those watching their sugar intake! I love, love, love them!!! KATY in Phoenix
Southbeach meal replacement bars (1.0)
The bars were not the ones pictured. They were suppose to be the 19 grams Protein 0 sugar and were different 12 Protein and had sugar.
Over Priced and you only get 1 Box of 12 Bars (1.0)
This product is misrepresented as a 12-pack of boxes. It only contains one box of twelve bars (unlike the other south beach bar packs). Therefore, these bars are much cheaper at the local grocer so don't waste your money.
The price ended up being so high I was confused. (2.0)
I buy other South Beach products from my local grocery store, they are often on sale for $5 for two boxes (Cereal Bars - 5 pack - 1.23oz). The price of this product ($21.78) for a 12 pack seemed to be a good deal for 12 boxes. ($1.82 per box) However it is the price for 12 BARS, which is insane. The meal bars are a little bit more expensive than the cereal bars I normally purchase, but even buying them as a single bar would have been cheaper at the grocery store, they are normally priced $1 each. The product itself tastes pretty good, and it does a good job of filling me up, I eat a bar, drink a liter of water and have a banana or a handful of grapes and I'm set for either breakfast or lunch. If you shop around you almost assuredly find a much better price. I live in a town with one grocery store (not a Wal-Mart)and they have this exact same product for 50% less (2-6 packs for approx $10) Hope this helps someone else from being shocked when the get a whole lot less than they thought they were going to get.
Best low-carb bar out there (5.0)
All I can say is that staying on a low-carb diet is much easier with these bars. They have an unbelieveable 19g of protein, only 210 calories, tons of fiber, and they are filling. I have never had any other "nutrition" bar and felt full afterwards until this one. I think they taste just fine, but of course, they don't taste like a Hershey bar either, so don't have unrealistic expectations of taste and you'll be happy. I have lost 15 pounds and been able to keep it off, and these bars give me a snack that makes it easy to control my carbs at work, at home, and on the go.
Meal Replacement, In a Bar (5.0)
I've tried a lot of supplements and snacks to try to replace a meal... this is the best bet. I'm a student on a budget. I worked out that if I buy these it's about $2 a meal. That's if I don't buy a drink or something else with it. That's 1- 2 bars for a day of classes, $4 bucks a day, c'mon, that's A HUGE SAVINGS, even over cheapo fast food, and these are nutritious. Eat a good home meal (learn to cook guys, I did, saves money and tastes great, and it's good for impressing the ladies) at least once a day, and you're set. The benefit of these is that they actually fill you up, not just with fiber as some brands that claim meal replacement do. Some meal replacement things are nutritionally lacking, they fill your belly but you're technically starving cause your deficient in nutrients. These are very well made and nutritionally sound, especially for younger folks like me who need more protein in their diets, if you're older this is still good, but you generally need less protein in your diet. The taste is great too, a little sweet with some of their flavors, but overall not overpoweringly so like some brands. My favorite is the cookie dough one, it goes down the easiest too, feels like it digests the easiest as well. Enjoy, this is a smart purchase.
The best (5.0)
This is THE best protein bar out there. It tastes just like apple pie!!! It is by far my favorite and one of the few I will only eat.
Best Protein Bar Period (5.0)
It's like an apple cinnamon granola bar on steroids. It's the only protein bar I've ever had that tastes really good.
If you are looking for a MEAL replacement-EXCELLENT! (4.0)
These bars are very tasty. I tried them just for the variety. My favorite is the SUPER COOKIE CRUNCH. However- I found a better price. Right in your friendly Walmart in the pharmacy. Four bars in a box for 6.97. Walmart only carries the apple and the cookie crunch in the 4-packs. They also carry the other varieties for 1.85 each. I do like the convenience and ease of buying these there. I used these bars when taking airline trips and you are stuck in an airport or airplane without any healthy alternatives around. They are satisfying. The calorie content is high-but you get a lot of protein 30-32 grams depending on the flavor, plus its like a multiple vitamin. My only complaint and it is a big one- there is 410 grams of sodium. I wish they made a low-sodium version...I am sure I am not the only one that wants low-sodium.
Best tasting protein bar available (5.0)
Big enough for one meal, and good enough to eat anytime, not too sweet and loaded with enough vitamins and nutrients to keep you going until you next meal. Highly recommended.
Good (5.0)
Good taste. I ordered it as a snack and ended up eating it as a lunch.
Awesome Bars (5.0)
These bars are awesome. This is my favorite flavor...This is the best price you will find anywhere.
Pro Bar original flavor (5.0)
Great product if you are looking for natural ingredients that are great for energy needed sport nutrition.
Hard to go back to the others after a Pro Bar (5.0)
I had a subscription to Odwalla's Berries-GoMega bars until they became unavailable. So I decided to switch and try Pro Bar instead. Although they are about twice the price (just under $2.00 per bar on subscription) they have nearly twice the calories, which I hoped would make them a more substantial lunch substitute. After eating my first Pro Bar, I was amazed by how much more enjoyable it was than the Odwalla bars. Crunchy whole nuts and chewy dried fruit are combined in a satisfying base of grains, seeds and peanut butter, with a few chocolate chips and crisp corn flakes to make the whole thing seem just a bit decadent. An interesting addition of fenugreek, fennel and nutmeg create a subtle, but complex addition to the flavors I've come to expect from an energy/nutrition bar. Not too sweet, aside from the rare chocolate chip, and just salty enough to satisfy that salt craving, Pro Bar is my new favorite bar.
One of the BEST tasting nutritional bars! (5.0)
I love Probar and the different flavors. They all taste great although I am not a chocolate fan and I haven't tried their newest flavors just for the record. You know they are great for you and your precious body that we need to maintain just by looking at them. You can feel the good energy. I absolutely love the Probars. Finally a great healthy treat you don't have to develop a taste for.
Nice filling, Well Rounded, Great Tasting (5.0)
This protein bar is meant as a meal replacement and it works well. It packs 410 calories and a lot (fast and slow) acting protein that does the job when replacing a meal. I use these when I'm on the go and don't have time to cook a nice healthy meal ahead of time. The flavor never gets old to me. Sometimes I forget its a protein bar it tastes so good.
I am in love with this bar. (5.0)
The "Whole Berry Blast" flavor Pro Bar is fantastic. It is loaded with juicy raisins, generous chocolate chips, and whole, plump chunks of fruit throughout. If you like the idea of whole-food, organic nutrition and enjoy a dense bar, chock full of whole almonds, nut bits, and loaded with seeds (flax), this is definitely the one for you. *Tip: I strongly recommend "stretching" Pro Bars out by kneading it in the package 'til you reach the seams -- makes them much bigger - but just as dense - and last much longer.
Great snacks!!! (5.0)
These taste great and since they're high in calories are perfect for my golf snacks (keep my energy level high). If you're very active you'll love these as they are very filling.
Healthy Meal (5.0)
Tastes great. Very filling. And, loaded with beneficial nutrition. This is the one to buy!
Great Nutrition Bars (5.0)
Pro Bar is a great nutrition source for your diet. It fills the stomach and is good for breakfast or lunch to get you through the day until dinner. Also a healthy snack after a gym work out. Highly recommend. I like this flavor because I love bananas.
Delicious! (5.0)
These are so good and healthy. Perfect for before or after a hard workout. They are also great for breakfast. Loaded with fruits...the whole berry is the best!
The best (4.0)
I've been eating these for years. They are the best balance between protein/fat you'll find on the market. Why is that? Other bars, even ones by Met-RX use palm kernel oil which is basically just saturated fat. They use it for the gooey centers in protein bars. For example, the Met-RX bars with gooey centers are 28% your daily saturated fat content. The cookie dough based ones use canola oil and only have 12% saturate fat/daily.
Delicious! Similar to a brownie. (5.0)
I have purchased this product at Safeway Grocery store at $2.99 each or $35.88 for a box of 12. I got these for $25.99 a box, just under $10.00 savings. A Good Deal!
Tastes like cookie dough (5.0)
Many protein bars have a chemical aftertaste; these do not. The biggest drawback is that they become stickier when warm, so it can be a bit of a mess if you've had them in your backpack all day.
I really appreciate the crunchiness and HIGH protein content (5.0)
I needed bars that had a really high dose of protein. These bars have tasty protein-not dry and pasty like others I have tried. These fit the bill and taste great- I think! People that do not like them must be thinking this would be like a snickers bar or something. I use these when going on airline flights. I do not have to succumb to expensive airport food that is lacking in nutrition. I feel satisfied and full.
